Bathing Waters: Classification

As indicated in the artt. 7 e 8 of D.Lgs 116/08, based on analytic results of microbiologic parameters of Escherichia coli and intestinal Enterococchi, the evaluation of quality bathing waters is done by:

(°) it’s allowed the application of alternative methods if only would be demonstrate that the obtained results are equivalent to the results obtained with official methods (*) based on 95° percentile; (**) based on 90° percentile.

Up to 2015, the first classification will be done in compliance with Direttiva 2006/7/CE and all waters will have to reach the quality status of “sufficient”.
Starting from the bathing season 2010, the suitability evaluation has been done referred to the contents of new standard. Arpa Molise carries out the monitoring in compliance with new classification.
In 2012 classification, based on computing of analytics results referred to period 2008 – 2011, it’s observed any examined bathing water isn’t resulted “poor” or “sufficient” in quality. The quality class of each bathing water is reported in following table:

In the following charts related to period 2008 – 2011 compared with preceding period 2007 – 2010, it’s clear a progressive improvement of bathing water quality status and a meaningful increase of waters classified as quality “Excellent”.
